Why it works
- Ivern's Q roots. "Rootcaller" damages and roots enemies from 1125 range. According to Data Dragon, Ivern's allies can glide toward the rooted target. To verify
- Rengar leaps from the brush. His passive makes him pounce on the target with a basic attack, and with his R (camouflage) he can do it without being in it.
- Ivern creates brush. His W "Brushmaker" creates a patch of brush where Rengar can trigger his leap. It's the clearest synergy of the duo.
- Shield for the gank. Ivern's E gives an ally a shield that then bursts and slows enemies.
- Rengar builds ferocity. With ferocity at maximum, his E roots and his W removes crowd control effects. To verify
Weak points: Ivern has little damage and little health; Rengar depends on going in with the brush or the R; both suffer if the enemy jungler invades them. To verify
Powerspikes by level
| Level | What changes | How to play it |
|---|---|---|
| 3 | First spike: Q, W and E of Ivern and Rengar. | A top gank with root and leap. |
| 6 | Spike: Rengar's R and Ivern's Daisy. | A second gank with camouflage. |
| Mid game | Rengar with items. | Hunt isolated targets and protect Ivern. |
Top gank combo
- Ivern: W to create brush near the target (if there is none).
- Ivern: Q on the target: it roots them.
- Rengar: leap from the brush (passive) or with the R, and Q for the extra damage.
- Rengar: E (slows, or roots with maximum ferocity) and W to damage and heal. To verify
Combo mistakes: missing the root or spending ferocity before the leap.
Level 6 protocol
- Rengar: R to camouflage and approach unseen; it reveals the nearest enemy champion.
- Ivern: Q to pin the target.
- Rengar: leap and full combo. To verify

Items, matchups and bans
Pending No patch data. Hypothesis to verify: they struggle against champions immune to crowd control and against an aggressive enemy jungler. To verify
Critical mistakes to avoid
- Spending Ivern's root without Rengar nearby.
- Leaping without ferocity or without vision of the enemy.
- Ivern alone in the enemy jungle: he's very fragile. To verify
How to play against Rengar + Ivern
Place vision in the brush of the top lane and respect levels 3 and 6. A shield or a crowd control cleanse turns the root into a failed gank. To verify
Frequently asked questions
Does Ivern attack monsters? No: according to his passive, Ivern can't attack or be attacked by non-epic monsters.
